I expected to love it as well, but I have a few major problems with it.

Please don't hate me, but this book wasn't for me. I know, I know. So many people fell in love with it. I expected to love it as well, but I have a few major problems with it.

Let's start off by saying I don't hate the book. It's just that the book wasn't for me. Trust me, I tried my best to love it, but I got frustrated with the main character. Even though the book wasn't for me, it might be for you. It's just my opinion. Take it as you see it.

Let's begin by explaining why I have major problems with this book, especially with the main character, Lola. I love that she takes no shit when it comes to her life or who she loves. But her not taking things seriously when they need to be, considering people's issues more in depth, or taking responsibility for her part literally annoys me so much. I just don't understand. No one is taking what matters to you, Lola. It's about thinking clearly when you date someone who wants to be your partner. He never tried to change you at all. I don't understand where you came from. It's your own insecurity to address. All he wants is to be let in, which means you should have stayed with him when he was experiencing a panic attack. I don't understand why you freaking left him on his own to face. Or the fact that you never took the threat seriously when you were around his daughter. You literally can't face the gang where they are able to shoot you or the family around you. And the fact that you never told him or took it seriously was a big no-no. That's his daughter. He will always put her first, no matter what.

I am just frustrated with Lola. Everything she did afterward doesn't mean anything. She only addressed them when she was confronted by the grandfathers. Yes, he messed up in the hospital when he said hurtful things. What she did was way worse, though. I don't think Lola is meant to be Santigao or Santigao with her. I don't know how they can pass on these bigger issues. It was too rushed, in my opinion.
