didn’t have to choose between two of her love interests
— Abigail Books Addiction

Well, this book was refreshing to read when the main character didn't have to choose between two of her love interests. She kept both of them, which I love so much. I always hated when the main character had to choose between two of his love interests. Thankfully, we don't experience that in Tonight, I Burn.

Tonight, I Burn brings Penny into her family thorn coven folds by burning herself at the stake. Yeah, I know what you are thinking. Why the hell are these witches burning themselves at the stake? Because that's the way of the thorn coven. They are tasked with patrolling the veil between the realms of Life and Death. It's not an easy task, especially for Penny, who is ultimately drawn to Death's presence.

Penny may be many things, according to her family, but she isn't clueless. She is a clever witch who will always do everything to protect those she loves the most. That is why she crosses the lines when she burns herself by herself (it's a big no-no) in order to find her missing sister in the veil. That's when everything starts to unravel in both realms.

There is much more to the veil than one thinks. So much unravels as Penny starts to investigate. Expect the unexpected.

Besides the endless secrets unraveling, Penny starts to develop feelings between two love interests. It may be expected in fantasy books that she needs to pick between them, but she doesn't. She has both of them, which they both don't mind. Yup, it's a poly relationship, and I'm loving it.

I will warn that romance isn't the main focus of this book. There aren't any explicit scenes. Just be warned.
