I constantly have problems with second chance romance tropes because I find betrayals hard to forgive. With that being said, A Thousand Miles has a second chance romance trope with a bit of a friends-to-lovers trope as well.
I already knew that I was going to have problems with this book. I find a second chance trope hard to read. And I was right about how I felt because the more I read this book, the more I got frustrated. Let me explain.
We don’t get all of the backstory between the two former friends. They stopped talking to each other years ago. Except they are reunited again with their road trip pact. It makes no sense to me why either of them are agreeing to this trip. And they don’t even approach the subject of why they stopped talking to each other years ago.
Despite their lack of communication, I find their romance too slow paced for my taste. It was not going anywhere. They kept avoiding the subject. They kept denying their attraction, which I have not seen. They just keep avoiding everything. It was too much of a go-around for this book.
