It lives up to its expectations

I finally understand the hype about this book. It lives up to its hype. And even more since I am obsessing over this book now. Like I need the next book in this series. I was left in an open-ender/cliff-hanger, and I need to know what’s going to happen next. But let’s back-track to this book.

Daughter of the Moon Goddess follows Xingyin, who has been living in solitude with her mother, Moon Goddess, and is unaware that her mother has hidden her existence from everyone. And she is also not aware that her mother is exiled. Xingyin's world is going to shatter when she has to leave her mother's house in order to avoid detection from the Celestial Emperor.

Everything that Xingyin knows is nonexistent when she has to live in secret as she wanders through the Celestial Kingdom. She will have to rediscover herself, especially when she becomes closer to the Celestial Emperor's son. It’s a bit risky for her, but she is willing to make it work because she wants to free her mother from her exile.

I love the determination Xingyin displays throughout the whole book. She was always willing to live up to her task no matter what. And she will always do the right thing, even though it may endanger her. She believes everyone has a choice in their life. You shouldn’t force them against their will or take their will away.

I also don’t want to forget that we have romance in this book too. It’s a love triangle, just want to warn you. Some people don’t like reading about love triangles. I didn’t care for it, but it did give an interesting tale to Xingyin story.
