Sooo, I don’t know how to say it, but unfortunately, this book wasn’t for me. Trust me, I truly did try. I kept on reading it even though I had conflicting feelings regarding it. And I just don’t vibe with the book. It’s not for me. I truly don’t like two of the characters in the story. Sorry, but not sorry.

Let’s briefly discuss why this book isn’t it. First, I typically don’t read dark academic fiction books. I had never read them before. It kind of doesn’t peep my interest. However, everyone was raving about this book early on. I wanted to give it a chance, but it wasn’t for me.

Second, I knew that this book was going to be messy just from the mentioned trigger warning. I thought that I was going to be okay with it, but it was just a no for me. I don’t believe at all in their relationship or their love for each other. It doesn’t feel genuine at all, especially from the behavior early on. I felt bamboozled. Their relationship was very toxic and messy. I don’t support it at all. And I know that the older professor took advantage from the start. She knew what she was doing.

Lastly, I don’t support two of these characters in the book. I genuinely don’t like them at all. I felt that they took advantage of people, even though it was wrong to do so. They knew that they were toxic, so why get someone else involved? I just can’t support this at all.
