it’s going to be rough and hard to earn the trust again
— Abigail Books Addiction

I have been waiting for this book for weeks. I absolutely love reading anything Rachel Reid writes. She truly knows how to write queer romance books, especially hockey romance genres. It’s literally the best read ever. Plus, Rachel Reid knows how to write incredible representation in mental health.

The Shots You Take is a bit of a heavy queer romance read. It truly broke me in so many ways, but yet I love it so much. Let me explain. Riley and Adam used to be together when they both played professional hockey; however, they were a secret for years and stopped talking for many years.

Fast forward to ten years later, Riley and Adam are reunited again, but it’s for an unexpected tragedy. It may be unfortunate, but it brings a strong reason for Adam to reunite with Riley again. He still loves him and horribly regrets what happened to their relationship. Adam is more than willing to repair their relationship even though it’s going to be rough and hard to earn the trust again.
