Who doesn’t love reading about former ex’s or fake former ex’s falling in love?
— Abigail Books Addiction

I have to say that I truly did enjoy reading The Ex-Talk. It has multiple layers that you would not expect from a romance book. We get to read about Shay, who is hosting a podcast with a fake ex boyfriend (co-worker) while she deals with big changes in her life: her widower mother getting remarried and snide sexist comments from her boss. Those are some big changes but that’s not new. Most women face this while they are dating someone or getting a new promotion at work. It’s wonderful that Rachel Lynn Solomon is able to pull this off for romance readers because we can relate to this on a personal level. And it does help that we get read about a new romance.
