I’m always a sucker for any romance books that feature dogs on their book covers
— Abigail Books Addiction

I have never read from Victoria Schade before, so I was a bit surprised when I read this book. And you already know that I read any romance books if they feature a dog on their book covers.

I have to get this off my chest. When I finished reading Dog Friendly a few weeks ago, I felt so heavy. It’s not the typical small beach town romance book. There is so much more to this story than it appears. Never knew this, but veterinarians have a higher rate of committing suicide. And that’s something Morgan is struggling with at Dog Friendly. She is experiencing blackouts and panic attacks, so she takes a break from being a veterinarian for the summer.

Dog Friendly focuses on a burned-out Veterinarian Morgan Pearce, who ruptly takes a much-needed vacation. The thing is, she is hiding who she is because she wants a break from being a veterinarian. It’s nothing to be ashamed about. I think she needs to see someone so she can get the help she needs. But that’s something Morgan needs to realize as she takes a break in the summer. You can’t force someone unless they are willing to.

Dog Friendly is more of a women's fiction genre than a romance genre read. It focuses more on Morgan's journey as she experiences difficult times as a veterinarian.

I just want to warn you that there are mentions of suicide, depression, anxiety, blackouts, and panic attacks in this book.
