reading about 90s rom-com movie vibes with a bit of miscommunication and the friends-to-lovers trope
— Abigail

Jia's matchmaking skills have always been the best of hers. She always wanted to have a matchmaking column, but her boss isn’t with it. Thankfully, Jia has the determination to achieve her goals by finding a match in order to prove she can be successful. It doesn’t help that her long-time childhood friend, Jaiman, has mixed feelings about it.

Jaiman has always been in love with Jia, but she doesn’t know. And he has preferred it this way ever since the disastrous kiss between them. Jaiman still thinks about it, but he has more problems to deal with, like his bar. It’s not doing so well that Jaiman knows he needs to do something to prove his father and nemesis wrong.

Honestly, it took a bit to get into this romance. Typically, I found myself drawn to the couple's chemistry with each other. However, the Jia and Jaiman story is more of a secret, slow-burn romance story. Let me explain the situation. Jaiman has always loved Jia since they grew up with each other. Jia doesn’t know about Jaiman's feelings, so she never returned any attractiveness, but she has been low-key ever since they shared a kiss years ago. This wouldn’t be an issue with me since I like to read about the friends-to-lovers romance trope. It was the lack of communication between Jia and Jaiman about each other that troubled me. Once Jia and Jaiman finally shared their feelings for each other, their romance just got so good!
