I’m sorry, but I am obsessed with Emily Henry’s latest release, Book Lovers. This book owns my heart in so many ways that I need everyone to know why.
Book Lovers starts off with the main character, Nora Stephens, describing her life as the cold, heartless workaholic (which is not entirely true). And that’s how I started falling in love with this book. Who the hell wants a sweet main character when you can get a flawed yet strong main character? That’s more realistic and relatable to read. Not everyone is a sweet or nice person, more than usual; we tend to be sassy or grumpy. Nothing is wrong with it, so I fully support Nora's adventures as she goes on her trip with her little sister.
I know Nora never expected to see Charlie again after their last endeavor. But it’s so entertaining to read when they see each other again after several years, and yet they still have sparks between them. And who knew that Nora was going into Charlie's hometown as well? Too funny!
Charlie was not what I expected Nora to fall for. But the more I read Book Lovers, the more I understood how elite Charlie is (ultimately becoming one of my book boyfriends as well). He is always understanding how much Nora puts into her work. He expects the best, so he is never bothered when she is working. That’s something to admire. And he fully supports her sassy personality. Hell, he even gives it back to her which they both love. They are made for each other.
What I ultimately love about this book is that I relate to Nora so much. Not everyone wants to be a mother. Sometimes, we are completely okay with being the fun Aunt. That’s how I roll. And there is nothing to be ashamed of.
